Speeding and Negligence: Belgian Drivers Pose a Traffic Hazard

Excessive Speed and Carelessness in Road Works

A shocking 60% of Belgian drivers exceed speed limits in road work zones, putting both themselves and road workers at risk. Additionally, over half of these drivers fail to use essential safety equipment, such as signal vests and reflective clothing.

Congestion and Fatal Accidents

Brussels, Belgium's capital, ranks as Europe's 11th most congested city, with Antwerp following closely behind. The country's traffic woes are further compounded by a high rate of fatal accidents, with 42 fatalities per 100,000 inhabitants and 484 cars per 1,000 people.

Negligence at Road Works

Belgian drivers hold the dubious distinction of being the worst in Europe when it comes to speeding in road works. This reckless behavior significantly increases the risk of accidents and injuries.

Tragic Consequences

Sadly, the consequences of speeding and negligence are all too apparent. In 2019, a tragic 646 people lost their lives in traffic accidents in Belgium, a sobering reminder of the importance of driving responsibly.
