Smoking On Cruise Ships

Cruise Ship Smoking Policies

Smoking on Cruise Ships

The vast majority of cruise lines no longer allow smoking on balconies due to fire safety concerns. However, there are a few exceptions. Costa Cruises allows smoking on balconies, and Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises permit smoking in designated areas of their ships, such as nightclubs and casinos.

Smoking on Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises

Carnival Cruise Line and Princess Cruises do not allow smoking on cabin balconies, but they do generally allow it in designated areas of their ships, such as nightclubs and casinos. These areas are typically located in a specific section of the ship and are well-ventilated to minimize the impact of secondhand smoke on other passengers.

Smoking on Costa Cruises

Costa Cruises is the exception to the rule. They allow smoking on balconies, but there are some restrictions. Smoking is not permitted in staterooms or on balconies that are located near lifeboats or other emergency exits. Additionally, smoking is not allowed in any public areas of the ship, such as restaurants, bars, or theaters.

Consequences of Smoking in Prohibited Areas

If a guest is caught smoking in a prohibited area, they may be subject to a fine or other penalty. The specific penalty will vary depending on the cruise line and the severity of the violation.
